VIDEO: Little Racer – Little Racer

Little Racer

Brooklyn’s Little Racer have released their new video for their self-titled track ‘Little Racer’, this song melds their youthful energy of basement garage pop with the melodies of the West coast. While the video has a warm vintage feel to it and was directed by Cate Schappert watch it below.

Formed in late 2009, with college connections linking the band, Little Racer consists of Elliot Michaud (lead vox, guitar, keys), Ish Nazmi (bass, backing vox) and Mike Seay (drums, back up vox). Elliot grew up in Sturgeon Bay, working boats and staring at UFOs in the woods (true story). Whilst, bassist Ish grew up in New York City, where he was raised on his father’s awesome eastern music cassettes. However, drummer Mike spent years living alone in an enormous eerie house in New Orleans; where he decided to shake off his cobwebs and move back to the northeast. Eventually meeting Ish and Elliot, where after a few beers and Michael McDonald songs later, they became Little Racer.

Written by Elliot after his girlfriend moved from LA to join him in New York, ‘Split For The Coast’ is the tale of how she was turned off by the coldness, both in the climate and people of NYC, finally confessing she couldn’t live in NY anymore. With cutting rawness blended into sweet Calypso and Bossa Nova breaks, ‘Split For The Coast’ resolves to encompass the sad yet healing background nature of the track.

The flip A-side ‘The Town’ is a 4-minute narrative of discovery and travel, that trips and grooves along, conveying the freshness of arriving in a new place, with the wonder of familiar things seeming so spectacular in a new environment. “This song is about the excitement of travel and short-lived romances we have with foreign places” say Little Racer.

Perfectly exhibiting their love for ‘60s surf pop, blended with their extensive world music knowledge and popular influences – ‘Split For The Coast’ and ‘The Town’ are their tales of heartbreak, dreams and discovery.

Self-recorded, produced and mixed in various New York Basements, Little Racer’s debut double A-side single ‘Split For The Coast’ and ‘The Town’ will be released digitally and on limited edition 7”, with artwork by celebrated Japanese illustrator Yusuke Nagano, on 12/12/2011 by Young and Lost Club.
