BBC MUSIC – “Live it – and (Group)love it”.
Off the back of their storming London gig at XOYO, Grouplove have today announced the upcoming release of their new single “Lovely Cup”. Taken from their debut album Never Trust a Happy Song, it’s another example of their unique blend of sunshine and “grin widening indie-pop” (Total Guitar).
Produced by the band’s own Ryan Rabin, Grouplove were seen playing their debut album across the UK summer festival schedule, including high profile appearances at Glastonbury, Latitude and Reading and Leeds Festivals. In July 2011 they played at Optimus Alive ’11 Festival in Lisbon, Spain and opening up for Blondie and headliners Coldplay in front of 50,000 people.
Grouplove have gathered much critical acclaim following the release of their album, which was released on 5th September 2011. Q Magazine described it as a “euphoric debut” and popular music blog Music Broke My Bones described it as “12 of the most gloriously uplifting tracks of 2011”. It was album of the day on 7th September on BBC 6music, the band did a live interview with Jo Wiley on BBC Radio 2 and the album saw plays across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, XFM, Kerrang Radio and Q Radio. “Lovely Cup” has recently been played by John Kennedy on XFM and Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music.
The band release their new single “Lovely Cup” on 14th November 2011.
