God’s got a bone to pick with WordPress. On Monday the servers automatically updated our FaceBook plugin, causing a clash with the Arras system from which this site runs. Consequently our FaceBook ‘liking’ count was reset on every article.
As you’ll know – if you read the recent announcement regarding our Featured Act for August – fans rely on Twitter and FaceBook to cast their vote, and we rely on it to keep tally of the competition. Our count was reset just days before the round came to a close, effectively putting all bands at ground zero. This spells bad things.
…But not as bad as certain bands duplicating Twitter accounts to get even with their peers, completely upsetting the true order. Cheating isn’t something we endorse at God Is in the TV, and it won’t be tolerated.
The results are as follows:
– Bill and I have decided to close the August round at the marks noted before the FaceBook/Arras saga.
– The shall-remain-unnamed band that cheated has been disqualified from the competition.
– Ed Tullett has won. On Monday Ed had 72 FaceBook likes and 28 retweets; regardless of cheating he was ahead by a clear mile, and so he’ll be joining An Axe at the gig we’re curating at Buffalo Bar, London on November 19th.
I’m genuinely sorry if you were running in the competition and feel you’ve been cut short, but I hope you understand our position and realise this is the best and fairest way to deduce our winner.
