Some deluded music fans have it into their brains that development and progression within a band is not acceptable, claiming therefore that everyone should remain the way they where originally. This statement is utter madness! Who wants music to stay the same and for everyone to like the same thing? Surely, that would get boring!
Top of the bill for receiving abuse is St Albans finest, Enter Shikari, who have adapted their music and sound drastically over the past few years. Their newest EP ‘Quelle Surprise’ is a fine example of this, as it goes beyond high dubstep influences with other colourful genre mixes thrown in for good measure. This easily makes the band exceptional; being able to pull off such a challenge definitely deserves merit. Every single release they throw at you is both distinctive and unique; nothing sounds the same and surely, that is what music lovers and critics alike crave.
The original and unclean version of ‘Quelle Surprise’ is clearly the best part of this six-track masterpiece. Imagery of leading man Rou Reynolds going mental is indefinite, seeing this live is sure to be completely mind blowing! Its hectic riffage and constant hunger for more is prominent throughout and its madness does not stop until that final blast of sound.
Therefore, ‘Quelle Surprise’ and ‘Destabilise’ are oozing with individuality, style and expertise. Whoever thinks otherwise clearly needs their ears testing. You can easily see yourself going wild to these tracks; a head bashing in the dark is inevitable as they explode your sound system for their entirety.
