William Hill are set to take down their Barclaycard Mercury Music odds at lunchtime on Thursday ahead of the shortlist announcement next Tuesday. PJ Harvey is the current 4/1 favourite to win the prize with multi platinum artist, Adele at 5/1. Wild Beasts, who were shortlisted last year, are the 8/1 third favourites. There are a number of high profile acts in the running for the prize with Noah and the Whale 12/1, Hurts 14/1, Tinie Tempah 20/1, Jessie J, Radiohead and Elbow are all 33/1 while Beady Eye and Arctic Monkeys 40/1 shots.
“The past year has been fantastic for British music, with Adele really setting the benchmark, but we believe PJ Harvey has the slight edge and is leading the market,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “But with a number of big names in the running, it is guaranteed to be a close one this year.”
