STREAM: The Horrors – Skying (XL)

the horrors skying

The Horrors release their third album ‘Skying’ next week (July 11th). It is now available to hear in full: http://www.thehorrors.co.uk/

And on the handy link below!

On first listen this new album displays more of a 80s influence than their previous efforts. Thoughts?

  1. Is it me or does it remind you of bands like James, The Church and Jesus Jones? Real late 80s feel to it (sure that ‘I can see through you’ has a synth intro straight out of Phil Oakey’s ‘Electric Dreams’).
    Growing on me.

  2. Maybe yeah that kind of swirly early baggy stuff.Wanna review this Dom?Personally i fail to see the hype its a succesful pastiche of Simple Minds and Japan but so what?

  3. Bugger, Harry Milburn has beaten me to it (with a pretty damn fine review I may add).

Well I don’t mind the Horrors sounding like whoever they want, its when some critics, media etc go overboard on eulogising them. Their just not very original. They just have good taste.

  4. Yeah its like they’ve raided their mum and dad’s record collections and picked up all the trendy 70s or 80s stuff…..

There are some bands its just in the interests of certain people in the media to hype. Because it suits them, and because they are fashionable for whatever reason. These bands are called critic proof.Harry’s review is well written but I still disagree with it!
