Referencing the late 80s and 90s rather than recreating them, Bright Light Bright Light has some of the most potent contemporary pop songs around, channeling Depeche Mode, Bjork, Yazoo and Ace of Base with a connoisseur’s conviction.
“A ‘Disco Moment’ is when you’re totally lost in having the time of your life…” explains Rod Thomas aka Bright Light Bright Light, “This song is about watching someone have that moment right in front of you.”
The video takes a leaf from the candid pop art aesthetic of that era, showing models with televisions for heads, caught in that suspended moment between laughter and tears.
