Canadian multi award winners Arcade Fire aired two new songs on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show last night, you can hear both on the handy streams below. Available as part of The Suburbs re-issue along with the Spike Jonze directed 30 minute film Scenes From The Suburb, the two tracks were both recorded during the sessions for the band’s third record.
Both ‘Speaking In Tongues’ and ‘Culture War’ continue a similiar vein to their material from ‘The Suburbs’. ‘Culture War’ also features guest vocals from Talking Heads’ David Byrne,

“Culture War I think lyrically is the most direct [Arcade Fire song]“, Win Butler said of the second track premiered, explaining it was tackling social themes he’d seen and experienced growing up in Texas. With lyrics like “We’ve lived your southern strategy” and “You want it, you’ve got it, here’s your culture war”, Win’s feelings on the attitudes held in his home state are clear and they certainly ain’t positive.
