Gomez are set to release their amazing brand new album ‘Whatever’s On Your Mind’ via Eat Sleep Records on 6th June.

Deep in the woods of Virginia, Gomez have conspired to make the most compelling, direct album of their fifteen year career. The members reside across two continents (in Los Angeles, Brooklyn and Brighton, England) and after several months of sharing ideas through every facet of technology available to them, they came together with their long-time friend, Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet), to create their first self-produced offering since 2001’s ‘In Our Gun’. Their seventh studio album, ‘Whatever’s On Your Mind’, will be released on Eat Sleep Records on June 6th, 2011. Download the first single, ‘Options’, off the band’s website – www.gomeztheband.com

Throughout their illustrious career, Gomez have always been pioneers in their craft – they came onto the scene in England in the 90’s alongside bands like Super Furry Animals and The Beta Band and went on to win the Mercury Music Prize in 1998 for their debut album. They continue to lead the pack today; SPIN said, “Long before My Morning Jacket spiked their Southern-rock jams with early-’80s electro beats, these Bonnaroo-friendly Brits were mixing space-age electronica into their funky art-blues brew.” Known by many for their genre-blurring music, Gomez have distilled their shared love of alt-rock, glam, nashville country, post-punk, dancehall, top 40 pop and much more onto their latest LP.

Serving as the follow-up to their acclaimed 2009 release, ‘A New Tide’, their forthcoming album sees the band pushing their limits in a way we have not yet heard. The other musicians on the record include Luke Steele (Empire of the Sun, Sleepy Jackson) and Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, TV on the Radio, Iron and Wine). Whereas in the past you might have felt that the fact that Gomez (Ben Ottewell, Tom Gray, Paul “Blackie” Blackburn, Ian Ball and Olly Peacock) shared song writing duties forced a blending of ideas, their music now sounds proprietorial. This is Gomez. “Sometimes we might have been a little trapped by our own muso-ness” says Tom Gray, “but this album is liberating. It doesn’t feel at all stuffy and it’s a real joy.”
