You’ll note one for each day of the week. You can listen to The Wave Pictures’ Sugar Maple Charcoal from the first single here. And The Werewandas’ Nothing Left To Do But Cry from February 7th’s release can be heard here.
John Jervis, founder of WIAIWYA, says that the idea came to him “when Mercury suggested they wouldn’t be releasing physical singles anymore” and he began thinking “about Record Store Day, The Simple Machines’ “Working Holiday” series (part of the reason for starting the label in the first place) and Trev OddBox‘s 2011 Singles Club. The 7″ is of course the most important format for indie music, there currently are 7 bands on the label, and the rest just fell into place.”
More info can be found on the WIAIWYA 7777777 blog here. And anyone is welcome to add their own ‘7 song’ to the soundcloud group!
