The most hyped band in Oxford at the moment – drone punks Dead Jerichos release their debut EP Please Yourself on the 5th of Dec. “They make you think of early Liars, caustic delay drenched droney guitar lines and shattered fragments of disco and post hardcore rhythms. Please Yourself was recorded by Rory Atwell, super hot producer and ex Test Icicle. Remixes were by ambient maestro Message To Bears and dub legends Dubwiser. ” Give the lead track a listen here:

ArtisHard label is releasing The Black Tambourines third EP ‘Chica’ – their first new material in almost a year. They’re releasing it on cassette on the 19th December. It will probably make a lovely present for your nearest in dearest, but only if they’re into grunge, slacker pop and skeletons.  As if this wasn’t enough exciting news for one day, they will also be heading off on the newly christened ‘fuck Christmas, d.i.y forever tour’ with our favourite Welsh twee shoegazers Joanna Gruesome.

London’s most renowned music collective, Roll Deep, are set to return in January with single ‘Picture Perfect’, the first cut to be taken from their forthcoming album due out April next year.Roll Deep are an institution of the UK dance underground, with a decade-long history as pioneers at the forefront of radical hip hop and grime. The new single ‘Picture Perfect’ features the newest addition to the group, singer Tania Foster, (who also appeared on Roll Deep’s 2010 smash hit, ‘Green Light’). Juxtaposing ravey synths and a dirty b-line with an infectious chorus and anthemic hooks, this first cut from Roll Deep’s forthcoming 2012 album.

Gabriel Bruce is the ex-Loverman vocalist and his debut solo single ‘Sleep Paralysis’ is set for release on December the 5th. It’s foreboding synth textures, sparse lyrical narrative and brooding baritone, has more than a hint of Leonard Cohen and the work of Nick Cave about it. It’s intriguing and intoxicating and promises much for his future works. Watch the video below.

George Cloke and Oli Dewdney are Team Morale: an indie/electro duo from Kent. They make lush instrumental soundscapes with guitars, bass, drums, organs, mandolins and banjos. They’ve been playing together for a year and love going to gigs, late night techno jams and loop pedals. They sound like the love child of Warpaint and Mount Kimbie. They want to play live more often, and only hope that others enjoy listening to their music as much as they enjoy making it. Check out their new cut ‘Sleep Deprivation’ below.

Following the release of ‘Nuclear Seasons’ on This Is Music Ltd this week, watch Charli XCX’s mesmerising new video for the track, created by director Ryan Andrews and edited by Crim3s watch it below!

‘Nuclear Seasons’ is a pulsing disco anthem for the forthcoming holocaust, it was co-written and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Glasser, Major Lazer, Rolo Tomassi, Diplo) and is available now.

London’s Cymbals who arenow a four piece released their debut album Unlearn earlier this year,  in the early summer months of this year the band returned to the studio to work on new music. Camping out on The Lightship 95 – a boat that doubles as a studio – for five days, they wrote and recorded from scratch eight songs, of which “Intense Kids” is the first to be released. Sitting somewhere between Yo La Tengo and New Order, it’s what the band call “downhome disco”, and perfectly captures their distinct brand of melancholic euphoria.

High Places are Rob Barber and Mary Pearson. Throughout their nearly five years of existence, the band have traveled extensively and performed in a multitude of environments. Whether performing at the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan or in an industrial warehouse in Santiago, Chile, High Places’ enveloping sound and propulsive energy allow the music to translate to a variety of venues. Visual art plays an important role in Mary and Rob’s collaboration. The two make video projections for their stage shows, keep a photo blog that documents their travels (http://hellohighplaces.blogspot.com), and create their own album artwork. In this way and others, Mary and Rob challenge the conventional parameters of a rock band and instead give us a multi-sensory aesthetic partnership that continually defies expectations. Stream the wonderful glitch textures and fractured vocals of ‘Year Off’ below.
