This week I went to see art punks Kutosis’ album launch in Chapter arts centre in Cardiff, it was a launch with a difference. It showcased twelve visual representations by local directors of the tracks on their cracking new album ‘Fanatical Love’ that’s out on Barely Regal next week. Anyway here’s one of the videos for their track ‘Moon’, here’s the plot set up from director James Doherty: “Invaders from the moon have come to destroy Cardiff. Only Professor Lucha and some special celebrity friends can help the city in its darkest hour. All in fabulous state of the art 16-bit!” See if you can spot special guests Bill Murray and Ellen Page, it shouldn’t be too hard!

Every week something will just drop into our mailbox here at GIITTV towers and unexpectedly that quite delightfully catch us off guard. One such trinkett arrived a few days ago. Born in the industrial wasteland that is Hamilton, Ontario was Damon Guyett a talented bedroom producer who at the age of just 20 is captivating our ear drums this afternoon. He provides the lo fi soundtrack to a short film ‘Bugged’ a wonderful psychy sixminute trawl through half remembered fragments of melody, reverb drenched synths, hazy dream rushes and splendid glitches. And what’s more it’s available to download for free below!

London duo Matt Poile and Alex Morris, aka Crushed Beaks, continue the build up to their debut single release with a brand new video for the lo-fi reverb pop of lead track ‘Close-Ups’ with it’s barely audible hollered vocals and feet moving rhythms, it’s like being in the room but not quite all there.Taking in the band’s shared love of kitsch horror films, the video for ‘Close-Ups’ is a brilliant juxtaposition against the song’s bittersweet melodies.

Watch the official video for the song ‘Knots’ below it’s lifted from Dan Michaelson’s 2011 album Sudden Fiction. Dan told us he just set up and recorded in the the wintry AM sometime this week as he was driven around on the back of a truck playing his song. The results wonderfully showcases his less is more approach to arrangements, that gives space for each piano note and strum to aches and throb. Topped off by his endlessly delightfully croaky delivery that’s quiet melancholia bares comparison with Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. www.danmichaelsonandthecoastguards.co.uk
