Ahead of their upcoming UK tour dates, Algiers‘ powerful The Underside of Power has been remixed by Gaika. As the first release on his new label, The Spectacular Empire, Gaika commented that “The Spectacular Empire functions as infrastructure for forward-thinking black art and music, recorded or live. It’s an attempt to express my aesthetic and that of the people I rate in as many degrees as possible. Thematically, though the work is generally still about normal everyday hood things – just filtered. It’s still gotta bang…”
Gaika’s remix comes just as the band prepare to set off on an extensive UK tour, beginning in Manchester on the 22nd November at The Soup Kitchen, with a pair of headliner concerts at Moth Club in London on the 28th & 29th November.
Algiers’ The Underside Of Power is out now on Matador Records.
