Track Of The Day #1012: Wolf Girl – Moody

‘Moody’ is an ace, fizzing garage pop tune that buzzes out of the traps, electrifying us with its hooky guitars and rhythms. It’s laced with singer Becky’s clever vocals that teeter between indifference and plain pissed off, like copping a glance at her diary before it’s slammed shut. This is Wolf Girl a quartet from London, you could use shorthand comparisons to the literate noise pop of contemporaries Martha or the hooky urgency of The Flatmates, but Wolf Girl have a personality and attitude of their own that quite frankly it excites and intrigues in equal measure.

Wolf Girl debut release was a cassette on the sadly defunct Soft Power Recordings at the end of 2014. In early 2016 the band’s debut LP We Tried, the band have fast become a staple of the DIY scene in London and they have started to reach further afield and they got to play the prestigious Swn Festival in Cardiff at the end of 2016.

The single is out now on Pink Cadillac vinyl in an edition of 250.
