Canadian twin sisters Sari and Romy Lightman – formerly of Austra but now better known as alt-pop duo Tasseomancy – are releasing their debut album Do Easy on 18th November via Bella Union. The record has been partly inspired by the short story Discipline of D.E. (Do Easy) by William Burroughs, which Romy stumbled upon. She became deeply touched by the slightly more relaxed approached to Buddhism, and the principles have come to shape the album, including its title.
Having already shared the hypnotic single ‘Missoula,’ the pair have now shared a new single, ’29 Palms.’ The song is built around soft synth lines as well as bursts of saxophone and percussion. Much like most of Tasseomancy’s output, ’29 Palms’ channels the spirit of Kate Bush at her most languid. Romy says that the track is: “An ode to all the women in waiting for their psychic plumage to arrive.” Listen below.
