Sonic soul rockers DARK HORSES ‘s latest album ‘Hail Lucid State’ was a step up from their debut album, its replete with highlights: their throbbing urgent sleekly modernistic coated art rock is laced with psychedelic flourishes that echo both the 70s glam period and the new romanticism of the early synth kids.
Produced by long-time collaborator Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas) and released on the Crystal Castles imprint Last Gang Records (Boyz Noize, Chromeo, Ryan Hemsworth and Death From Above 1979 in August of this year.Today’s track was the albums lead track ‘Live On Hunger’ that positively bristles with a kick ass rhythm section, keyboard prods and a buzzing guitar riff that makes a sound comparable to the one a pneumatic drill makes concrete. A pop exocet pierced by lead singer Lisa Elle sultry assault on the senses that bristles with desire for a youth lost: means the chorus explodes gloriously somewhere between the punk attitude of Joan Jett and the Glam stomping of ‘Black Cherry’ era Goldfrapp. Quite frankly marvellous…
